Water damage on flooring

Advantages of Waterproof Flooring

As the weather transitions to the rainy season, your floors become vulnerable to wet shoes, drippy umbrellas, and muddy paws, which could cause many issues to the surface and below, including warping, peeling, and moisture build-up. If you have regular floors, it’s time to make a change to waterproof flooring before the storm arrives. Let’s explore the many advantages and options below.

Benefits of Waterproof Flooring

Waterproof flooring is an excellent option because it’s durable, easy on the budget, stylish, and repels stains and spills. It’s perfect for high-traffic and leak-prone areas, including mudrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms, because it has a protective barrier that is resistant to absorption. This type of flooring is worry-free and great for a busy household and lasts longer than standard flooring.

Easy to Clean and Maintain

When your children stomp and splash in muddy puddles and forget to remove their shoes upon entering, you’ll feel at ease with waterproof flooring. The water, mud, and other substances stay on the surface and don’t soak below. You can easily clean up the mess with a cloth without the worry and stress of ruining your floors.

Prevents Health Issues

With waterproof flooring, you are protected from moisture dangers. Moisture build-up in the home due to floods, spills, leaks, and humidity can cause major health issues from mold and mildew. These potential dangers can lead to itchy eyes, persistent sneezing, cough, and a rash. You don’t have to worry about that with waterproof flooring.

Floor Options

A popular and beautiful choice of flooring that people are excited about these days is waterproof luxury vinyl. It can withstand the wear and tear of a busy home. Here at  California Carpets and Design Center, we have various styles available that you will love. Luxury Vinyl Planks resemble ceramic or wood, so you don’t have to sacrifice the look when choosing functional waterproof flooring. You can still have a spa-like appearance in your bathroom or an elegant look in your living room. LVP is budget-friendly and scratch and dent resistant too. Best of all, LVP is easy to install, and we will professionally install your new floors in your home quickly before your next party or before the next storm.

WPC and SPC Defined

Before you decide on the color and style, there are a few terms and factors to know. Luxury Vinyl Planks have four different layers: wear, vinyl, and rigid core, either wood plastic composite (WPC) or stone plastic composite (SPC), and lastly, the base layer.

WPC is made of recycled wood pulp and plastic composites. SPC consists of limestone and stabilizers. WPC is thicker and lighter than SPC, and they are slightly different in costs. Both WPC and SPC flooring resemble stone, ceramic, and wood and are durable and 100% waterproof.
